About

This book is written from two perspectives. For each of the tea visits we took our turns to share anecdotes of the tea experience. We scribbled notes and made comments about the food and general ambiance of these lovely Iowa tearooms.

The reviews of the tearooms soon become secondary to the voices which kept appearing as we spoke. Our experience as mother and daughter and how those roles shape our communication and our views surfaced frequently in our writing. We reflected on how the position as daughter and mother mingle as we grow up and grow older. We are always daughters seeking the love of mothers and mothers who treasure or long for closeness with our daughters. Like the cycle of our bodies, the cycle of our aging, there is also a cycle to our relationships.
